Grace Schulman on Marianne Moore

Schulman will reconsider the impact of Moore’s poems, and discuss her experience editing The Poems of Marianne Moore (Viking Penguin 2003). She  is the former poetry editor of The Nation, 1971-2006.

Schulman, Distinguished Professor of English, Baruch College, is a prize-winning poet whose latest book is Without a Claim (Mariner 2013). Among honors for her poetry are the Aiken Taylor Award, the Delmore Schwartz Memorial Award, and four Pushcart Prizes. In February 2016, the Poetry Society of America announced that Schulman was the 2016 recipient of its highest award, the Frost Medal, presented annually for distinguished lifetime achievement in poetry. Previous winners of this award include Wallace Stevens, Marianne Moore, Gwendolyn Brooks, Allen Ginsberg, Lucille Clifton, Charles Simic, Marilyn Nelson, and Kamau Brathwaite, the 2015 recipient.

One of her poetry collections, Days of Wonder, a finalist for the Phi Beta Kappa Award, was selected by Library Journal as one of the best poetry books of 2002.
