Glenda Davenport with the Hiroshi Yamazaki Trio

On Friday, December 5^th jazz vocalist Glenda Davenport returns to Roscoe’s Room with the Hiroshi Yamazaki Trio. Glenda Davenport, discovered at the World Famous Apollo Theater’s Amateur Night, has performed in such legendary venues as The Village Gate, Birdland and Caramoor. She performs regularly at jazz clubs throughout the tri-state area, and has recorded two CDs: “Sophisticated Lady” and “More Than You Know.” Born and raised in Mt. Vernon, New York, Glenda Davenport has been described as “a mature, skillful singer with depth, emotion and swing.” Musician Jimmy Hill (alto saxophone) adds that Glenda Davenport is a fantastic entertainer, with “ a wide ranging explosive, yet sultry voice, and a beautiful face … If you’ve seen her once, you must see her again.” Two shows, 7:30 pm and 9:30 pm; $10 cover charge.
