Gentle Ben’s Quartet

On Saturday, January 23^rd Gentle Ben’s Quartet will perform in our main dining room from 7:30 to 11 pm. Ben Barnett is a 21-year-old jazz trombonist, who is quickly emerging on the jazz scene in New York City. He is currently is in his last semester at the Conservatory of Music at SUNY Purchase College and is a student of John Fedchock’s. Tonight’s music will feature a band he holds in great esteem: Pete Malinverni on piano, Dean Torrey on bass, and Aaron Seeber on the drums. Pianist Pete Malinverni’s thirteen recordings as a leader have been received favorably by the press and continue to enjoy heavy airplay in the US and abroad. As much as he enjoys playing and composing he also loves his work as a Jazz educator at Purchase College, where he is Head of Jazz Studies.  Dean Torrey is a 23-year-old double bassist from Connecticut. He currently resides in Brooklyn, where he is quickly becoming one of the city’s most in-demand sidemen. Lastly, a native of Bethesda, Maryland, Aaron Seeber is proving himself to be a rising talent on the New York Jazz scene. Now living in Brooklyn, Aaron attended the prestigious SUNY Purchase Jazz program, where he was mentored by Kenny Washington and John Riley. Aaron has toured internationally with The Warren Wolf Trio and hosts the Jam Session at Smalls Jazz Club every other Wednesday. No cover charge, but tables in the main dining room are reserved for those ordering a meal and there is a two-drink minimum at the bar.
