From the Artist:

I work to produce visual pleasure, intellectual stimulus, and philosophical perceptions that are uniquely personal and cultivate introspection for both myself and the viewer. And while doing this, I hope to demonstrate that beauty, ideas, significance, and humor are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

Using miniatures and multiples I play with the powers of scale and thought to create extended narratives concerning environment, ritual, and relationship.

My continued use of gold as a surface carries potent symbolism. It is, and has been, universally used by governments, religious institutions, and individuals to denote value, power, luxury, wealth, exclusivity, currency, and has been the quest throughout history of alchemists and conquerors alike.

It represents civilization, as much as written language or tools, as well as being mesmerizingly beautiful.

Gold so changes an object that even a small sparkle of it can affect an entire room. This, for me, optimistically represents the ability of small activities to influence thought and culture.

Technically with clay I can record every push and pull and retain a spontaneous vitality. Gold is my perfect finish: the surface is the form. At microns thick, the delicate gold leaf reveals and enhances every slash and texture. It stands as an equal partner with the robust elemental qualities of the clay and fire.

I love the marriage of precious metal and lowly dirt : a simultaneous elevation and humbling.
