Furuya Sisters Perform Tchaikovsky and Mozart at Nyack Library Carnegie Room

The Furuya Sisters are three sisters, all Juilliard graduates.  They come to Nyack to perform the colossal and beautiful Tchaikovsky Piano Trio in A Minor, and Mozart Piano Trio in E Major I. Allegro.

Both Mozart and Tchaikovsky are agelessly world-popular for a good reason.  Come listen to these generous works of music and see why they’re so universally liked!  Tchaikovsky himself was a great Mozart fan: “It is thanks to Mozart that I have devoted my life to music.” (Tchaikovsky, March 28, 1878)

Andrew Carnegie—with whose gift the Nyack Library Carnegie Room was built in 1903—invited Tchaikovsky to the USA to open Carnegie Hall in May 1891.  Tchaikovsky was amazed at his popularity in the US: “I am convinced that I am ten times more famous in America than in Europe.” (Tchaikovsky writing in New York, April 30, 1891).  About Andrew Carnegie, Tchaikovsky wrote on May 8, 1891: “This arch-millionaire is very kind to me, and constantly talks of an engagement for next year….”
