Opening Reception: From the Streets: An Exhibition of Urban Art

Meet “From the Streets” exhibition curators Marc Leader and Melissa McCaig-Welles. Mingle with exhibiting artists — some of the biggest names in urban art today. Get a sneak peak at the show before it opens to the public.

“From the Streets” is a who’s-who of urban art, featuring work by some of the most renowned graffiti writers and muralists.

Anchored by large-scale mural commissions by some of the best-known American urban artists, “From the Streets” follows graffiti’s stylistic evolution from its genesis as a 1980s youth subculture in the Bronx to its rising prominence in the global art scene. The exhibition traces the meteoric rise of the urban artist from vandal and outlaw to that of trendsetter. Murals, photographs, installations, and works on canvas exemplify the scope and evolution of this dynamic global art movement.

Opening Reception and the unveiling of the work will be on  Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 4-8PM.

Snacks and refreshments will be served. Donations welcome.

“From the Streets” is curated by Marc Leader and Melissa McCaig-Welles, and made possible thanks to support from the Westchester Medical Center Health Network.

On view from Tuesday, April 9 – Saturday July 15, 2017
Hours: Tuesdays – Fridays, 12-5pm and Saturdays 12-6pm
