“Filmed in New Rochelle” Family Film Fête for Arts Fest

Animated cartoons produced by Terrytoons and silent films by the Thanhouser Film Company will be featured in this fun afternoon program for all ages. Paul Terry first established his animation studio in 1934 in the “K” Building, at the intersection of Huguenot Street and North Avenue.  Mighty Mouse, Heckle & Jeckle, and Deputy Dawg were among the cast of characters created in the studio, which later moved to 38 Centre Avenue.  From 1909 to 1918, the Thanhouser Film Company produced silent movies in two different studios in New Rochelle locations. The nationally-famous, pioneering movie company produced over 1,000 films that were seen from coast to coast. Three 15-minute Thanhouser films will be shown: Cinderella, When the Studio Burned, and Old Jane and the Gaiety. Free.
