Film Festival: Creatively Speaking presents “Diversity Rising – Local IS Global”

Founded by French Huguenot refugees in 1688, The city of New Rochelle is home and host to a medley of cultures but few film related events specifically attend to the need for cross-cultural awareness and education akin to communities of color.

The Creatively Speaking Film Series has discernibly proven its twenty-four year commitment to expanding audiences for independent film and video artists of color through community screenings, bold, thoughtful conversation, and the discussion of the craftsmanship of filmmaking — now continued in a program exclusive to New Rochelle.

At the soul of this program are themes that include little known history lessons; the significance of family and education; identity and culture; coming of age and uplifting migration stories.

The Creatively Speaking experience is trademarked by facilitating a nurturing environment for engaged dialogue amongst community members, educators, students, artists, activists, media professionals and filmmakers. In celebration of Bastille Day, Creatively Speaking reaffirms itself as an ally of unity in diversity.

The free films will be shown in the Ossie Davis Theater.
