Fall Program Registration

The Play Group Theatre in White Plains is now registering students for Fall 2014 programs and performances.  Serving Westchester for nearly 20 years, PGT offers a wide range of theatre classes and performance opportunities for both novice and experienced performers ages 3-18. PGT’s state-of-the-art facility features a 228-seat MainStage theatre, 80-seat StudioStage “black box” style theatre, rehearsal studios, extensive prop collection, and scene and costume shops.

Fall classes and rehearsals begin the week of September 29 and culminate with performances in December and January. Call 914-946-4433 or visit playgroup.org for complete program and registration information.

MainStage
The fully-produced performance for ages 8-18
Students are immersed into a creative process that offers a comprehensive training experience and magnificent finished product. The cast works with a dynamic and professional staff in rehearsals, specially designed classes and workshops to produce a show with professional set, lighting and costume designs.  Auditions for MainStage will take place the week of September 8.

Conservatory Programs
Conservatory programs for teens (ages 14-18) and young actors (ages 11-13)
Designed to inspire and teach young actors with some theatre experience and a growing interest in performance and/or Theatre Craft. Working as an ensemble and individually, students explore character development, theatre styles, dialogue pace and rhythm, and rehearsal etiquette. The Conservatory program uses published plays, devoting time to in-depth character study, plot analysis and styles work.

StudioStage
Young Actors Ensemble (ages 11-13) and PGT Kids (ages 7-10)
Classes and rehearsals are combined so that students are learning acting technique and musical theatre skills while working on material they will ultimately perform. They work collaboratively to create a show that incorporates their own ideas and into an entertaining performance. The final result is a collaborative and energetic performance, staged in our 80-seat Studio Theatre.

Little Theatre
Weekly classes for ages 4-6
Storytelling, theatre games, music, dance, puppets and more help introduce children to the magical world of theatre. Kids use their imaginations, voices and bodies to express new ideas and feelings. Classes are led by teaching artists with training in early childhood arts education and classes balance structured activity and time to follow the spontaneous creative impulses of the students.

Design/Tech Program
Backstage theatre for ages 14 & up
Students are introduced to the basics of set design and construction, costuming, prop making and technical theatre, including sound and lighting. Students collaborate on the design and execution of all aspects of production work for PGT’s MainStage show in the 228-seat state of the art theatre complex. They will have the opportunity to serve in key roles such as Light Board Operator, Sound Effects Operator, Dresser, Running Crew or Stage Manager.

Community Connection Cabaret Troupe
NEW program for middle & high school
For kids who love to sing and perform! Scheduled rehearsals prepare the group for performances at local hospitals, community centers and senior residences – lifting community spirits with the time and talents of the young performers. After additional rehearsal time in the spring, the troupe will perform at a “Cabaret Night” in PGT’s StudioStage theatre. Auditions take place Sunday, September 21st at PGT.
