Fall Comedy Night: LoHud Comedy

LoHud Comedy was founded to infuse the already-vibrant local arts scene with the Thalian spirit of mirth. For what, in difficult times, is more healing than a gathering of like-minded folk in the presence of jesters, storytellers, and fools for an evening of merrymaking and laughter?

Featuring

With:

Frank Vignola

Frank Vignola , considered in the industry a “comic’s comic” for over 20 years, is now becoming widely regarded as a prolific actor, writer and mentor as well. Besides television appearances on Comedy Central, CBC (Toronto) and Discovery Channel Europe, Mr.Vignola also appeared at Montreal’s prestigious “Just for Laughs” Comedy Festival with Bill Maher. Recent film credits include the starring role of ‘Eddie’ in “Tilting at

Windmills” and ‘Mr. Liebowitz’ in “Game Night” (both International Film Festival Manhattan selections). Frank is slated to play ‘Mr. Hatteras’ in “Double Eagle” (in pre-production) and voiced the character of ‘Dr. Robert’ in the animated television pilot “Ben v World”. Mr. Vignola was also lucky enough to travel as a member of the second Armed Forces Entertainment tour sent out after 9/11 and upon his return was invited to be the warm-up comic for Comedy Central’s “USO Comedy Show” taping at McGuire’s Air Force Base hosted by Susie Essman. And recently his one-man show “God and Science” closed New York City’s “Solo Arts Festival” and is scheduled for a limited theatrical run later this year.

Peter Keepnews

Peter Keepnews decided to become a stand-up comedian late in life. (As he explains it, he was having a midlife crisis and couldn’t afford either a sports car of a girlfriend- and his wife wasn’t all that crazy about either idea anyway.) He has not regretted that decision for a minute.  Observing life from the perspective of one who is, as he prefers to put it, gently used, Peter has surprised and delighted audiences of all ages at Carolines, Comix, Gotham, Broadway and other top New York comedy clubs. His younger colleagues may dream of spots on late-night TV or Comedy Central. Peter’s goal is more modest: He just hopes to be healthy enough to make it to the next gig.

Adam Oliensis

Adam Oliensis has spent decades studying philosophy & martial arts. He has undergone extensive psychotherapy. Twice.  But no amount of intellectual, spiritual, or physical discipline could prepare him for the slow chipping away of self-esteem that comes with being a husband and a father…especially the father of teenage girls. In his Stand-Up Adam mines the absurdities, ironies, and silliness that arise in the most humbling everyday situations (with which he is continues to gain vast experience). He won the 2013 Paramount Theatre Stand-Up Star Search. He has recently opened for Robert Klein, Colin Quinn, and Gilbert Gottfried. With Jon Cryer he wrote and starred in the film, “The Pompatus of Love.”  And he’s been nominated for Tony, Drama Desk, and Clio awards.

Marla Schultz

Marla has headlined across the world from performing in London to entertaining the troops in Japan. Prior to headlining, Marla featured for some of comedy’s hottest acts; Jim Breuer, Chelsea Handler and Gilbert Gottried. Marla began her standup career in New York City where she is a regular at Gotham Comedy Club, The Comic Strip Live and Caroline’s. When in Los Angeles, you can catch Marla at The Hollywood Improv, Comedy Union and The Ice House. The Manhattan Association of Cabarets/MAC Awards nominated Marla as outstanding female comedian. In addition, Marla has numerous credits in film, TV, and theater. She is also the co-inventor of a new product, The Racktrap, which is now an informercial that is running on national cable channels.
Organized by Adam Oliensis.
