Travel Photography with David Wells

At its best, travel photography combines two passions, travel and photography. David H. Wells indulges those two passions in his work as an award winning internationally traveled publication photographer. David brings to this 90 minute presentation four decades of experience in photography around the globe. David is also a veteran photo educator who was named “Best Workshop Instructor” in a Photo District News Reader Survey.

Making exceptional travel photographs requires skills in many different types of photography, from street photography to still-life work to portraits. In a typical day of travel, a photographer may shoot busy festivals, quiet buildings, open landscapes, or close-ups of nature. The best travel photographers are versatile in their skills and fluid in their process, using minimal gear to achieve a maximum of results. In this presentation, David will explore the important skills needed for good travel photographyDavid H. Wells (www.davidhwells.com) a free-lance documentary

The Photographic Tools for Making Exceptional Travel Photographs Every travel photographer defines their mission in their own way, but by my definition, a successful travel photo is one that creates a desire in the viewer to experience the place, culture, food or thing (or meet the person) that is shown in the travel image. There are many choices to be made: exposure settings, which lens to use, from which position, and when to capture the image. All of these apply to many kinds of photography.
