Emil Paolucci Summer Sounds Concert Series: Firey String Sistas

The Firey String Sistas bring their cutting edge sound to the Emil Paolucci Summer Sounds concert this week at 7:30 pm at the beautiful Hudson Park Band Shell. A chamber Jazz ensemble that has performed its brand of world music and jazz at various venues, Firey Strong Sistas features frontwoman and cellist Nioka Workman (who has played with everyone from Kanye West and Jay-Z to Alvin Ailey American Dance Company and the Joffrey Ballet) with Mala Waldron (piano, vocal), Marlene Rice (violin), Melissa Slocum (bass),  and Karina Colis (drums).

The Emil Paolucci Summer Sounds concert series is presented each summer by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts, in partnership with the New Rochelle Dept. of Parks and Recreation, and is co-sponsored by Webster Bank and People’s United Bank.

The Emil Paolucci Summer Sounds Concert Series features an eclectic menu of musical groups each year, from mellow jazz to rock and roll, rhythm and blues, country and western and even classical opera. The full schedule is available on line at www.newrochellearts.org.
