Ashok Sinha – Creative Photography of Iconic Structures.

CCCW presents Ashok Sinha    Driver-full City: The architecture of car culture in mid century Los Angeles.

New York-based photographer Ashok Sinha turns his camera to iconic structures in Los Angeles.

He focuses on the stylistically distinct buildings that appeared along its freeways during the boom

of postwar consumerism in America, producing a new kind of celebratory roadside vernacular. “I love cars and I love Los Angeles for being a city of cars and over the last decade or so, I have been intrigued by LA’s love affair with the automobile. However, as an architectural photographer, my interest in this visual story is primarily about this ‘car culture’s’ manifestation within the city’s built environment.

Through this series of images, I have attempted to catch something between the freeways and parking lots with my lens in order to capture the physical evidence of this eye-popping time in

California history and its unique happy-go-lucky attitude, sense of optimism, and the belief that anything is possible,” he says.

Published by The New York Times, Architectural Digest, and Interior Design Magazine, Ashok Sinha specializes in photographing architectural and interior spaces. His work depicts the design elegance of commercial, residential and educational institutions.

Aside from his commissions, Sinha passionately looks at world cultures through a fine arts lens depicting both the beauty of the natural world and uncovering intriguing human-interest stories. His photographs have been exhibited at The Museum of the City of New York, the International Center of Photography, and The Royal Photographic Society. Additionally, his work has been acquired by private collectors and institutions worldwide.
