Concert: Masterworks Conversation Presentation of \”Soundwaves and Storms\”

Pianists Matthew Harrison and Vlada Yaneva return for another superb performance, with lively narration. “Soundwaves and Storms” is a musical voyage which explores the versatile ways creative minds have depicted water in sound. For some composers water is a chance to travel: Handel, Chopin, and Strauss took some of the most delightful boat rides ever conceived, from the Thames to the Danube, chatting with kings or waltzing the night away. Other composers are moved by water in its natural setting. Both Scriabin and Schumann were taken with different aspects of the sea, from calm to storm, while Liszt was moved to peace by a Swiss mountain lake in Wallenstadt. Chopin, Debussy, and Ravel also delved into the psychological aspect of this element, penning some of the most haunting or delightful music ever imagined. Free with a suggested donation of $2.00.
