Codebreaker: Drama-Documentary on the Life and Work of Alan Turing

War! Sex! Intrigue! Math! Codebreaker tells the inspiring true story of a young genius whose visionary mathematical ideas cracked the Enigma code, hastening the defeat of Hitler and Nazi Germany. It also relates the relentless persecution suffered by this would-be war hero at the hands of his own government in response to his homosexuality. Though Turing’s place in the pantheon of great 20th-century intellects is widely recognized within academia, his accomplishments and life story remain surprisingly unknown elsewhere. This new feature-length drama-documentary (Patrick Sammon, executive producer and creator; Clare Beavan, director) aims to change that. Patrick Sammon will be on hand to introduce the film. A brief Q&A with Sammon and SLC faculty members Julie Abraham, Jefferson Adams, and Dan King will follow the screening.
