Chamber Talk with Max Mandel: Calidore Quartet / Ludwig, I Am Your Father

What do you know about chamber music?

Max Mandel, Evnin Rising Star alum and accomplished viola player, breaks it down for you with style, charm, and wit. This entertaining salon-style series, with live music and conversation from historical, political, comedic, and insider perspectives, is designed for the chamber novice as well as seasoned concert-goers. You’ll leave with a true sense of how and why the music works.

Joseph Haydn, known as Father of the String Quartet, mentored Ludwig van Beethoven, even though they each had very different paths to greatness. Haydn served as a court musician to a wealthy family, Beethoven refused to serve anything but his own musical goals. Haydn was beloved by his colleagues whereas Beethoven was a considered to be difficult. Haydn was a collaborative player, Beethoven preferred independence. Max Mandel rounds off this Chamber Talk with a conversation with the Calidore Quartet about their upcoming November 16 program and these momentous composers.
