CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL 2014 AND PREMIERE OF

“A Family tree”

Bronxville, NY—Concordia Conservatory announces its Chamber Music Festival 2014 with concerts on May 1 & May 3 at 7:30pm in the Sommer Center for the Performing Arts at Concordia College in Bronxville.  The concerts are open to the public.

2014 marks the 14th season for the Chamber Music Festival. May 1 chamber concert features the Conservatory faculty Melissa Alexander, John Chang, Jennifer Chu, Fiona Grant, Clare Hoffman, Ashley Harrington, Matt Van Brink and Evelyn Wadkins in a program of varied repertoire.

The May 3 concert presents “A Family Tree,” the premiere performance of a work composed by Matt Van Brink especially for the Conservatory twelve student chamber ensembles. The 45-minute work will be performed alongside artwork designed for the premiere as a backdrop by Conservatory art students.

The Conservatory instrumentalists and vocalists performing A Family Tree include Sam Arcano, Laney Bagwell, Haley Barr, Justin Barr,  Anna Bonnem, Sarah Bonnem, Noelle Butler, Paula Chirinos, Conor Coffey,  Harry Colvin, Pippa Colvin, Ian Cummings, Max Cutrupi, Olivia Damasco,  Malachi Dube, Samuel Dutton, Henriette Feldman, Geraldine Goodman, John Hanish, Rose Hanish, Elizabeth Hasfal, Nicholas Lombardi, Ravi Louis,  Samantha Mastroianni, Remi Mellinghoff, Gabriel Morato, Natalia Morato, Morgan Morrison, Charlie Nordahl, Sabrina Peňa,  Nicholas Politi, John Peter Redmond, Mary Grace Reisman, Emma Sanchez, Cassandra Sperry, Isabel Stronski, Myreen Toledo, Charis Turner, Holly Wemple and Teddy Whitehead Rockas.

This year, Concordia Conservatory offered student scholarships for the chamber music program made possible by the generosity of the Conservatory scholarship and outreach fund.  Concordia Conservatory is committed to the growth of the chamber music program to include access for all students.

About the Composer

MATT VAN BRINK is a composer, lyricist, pianist, accordionist and educator. He is on the piano and composition faculty at Concordia Conservatory (Bronxville, New York), which has commissioned many of his new works of chamber music and musical theater for its student performers. He has also been commissioned by San Francisco Choral Artists, Collage New Music, New York Youth Symphony, Celebrity Series of Boston, and Lara St. John, and his compositions and arrangements are published by Schott Music, Tenuto Publications, Hayo Music and by his own Schnitzel Music. Van Brink studied at Indiana University and Boston University, where he earned a doctorate. He lives in Brooklyn.
