Book Party Celebrates Local Authors

Recologie is excited to announce that they will be the venue to host Natural Awakenings First Book Party on April 9 at 7pm. Local entrepreneurs Dana Boulanger and Marilee Burrell, who publish the monthly healthy lifestyle publication, created these events to support local authors and bring neighbors together for a fun and educational evening. “We’re hoping to host future book parties in various locations throughout the region,” Dana said. “The idea is to bring neighbors together for a night of meeting and mingling with interesting people and to strengthen our holistic wellness community.” Light refreshments will be served, and a cash bar will be available. The informal event includes meet and greet with the authors, short presentations, book sales, healthy refreshments and soft music.
The first book party will celebrate Westchester authors Michael Finkelstein, MD, Cathleen O’Connor and Elizabeth Harper.

Finkelstein’s book, Slow Medicine: Hope and Healing for Chronic Illness, helps readers identify the root cause of their health challenges and presents a step-by-step plan to bring them back into balance. Known as “the Slow Medicine Doctor,” Finkelstein was trained at premier institutes for both conventional and integrative medicine and is certified in internal medicine as well as integrative-holistic medicine.
“Most health challenges are the result of an imbalance in our bodies and lives, and most quick-fix solutions actually exacerbate these imbalances,” he said. “If instead we take a Slow Medicine approach—identifying the root cause of our health challenges, then creating a thoughtful, step-by-step, long-term response to it—we effectively bring ourselves back into balance.”
O’Connor and Harper’s book, 365 Days of Angel Prayers, is a multi-author anthology of daily spiritual readings written to inspire and guide readers to experience a rich communion with the angelic realm.
“We teamed up in 2009 to create Spiritual Living as an online hub for people wanting community, connection and knowledge,” O’Connor said. “We’ve guided thousands of people to open their hearts, minds and souls to discover their true selves.”
She said their recently published book, 365 Days of Angel Prayers, is the first book of its kind to bring 170 “angel messenger” authors together from around the globe. For more information, visit SpiritualLiving.com.
The entrance fee is $20. Space is limited. For more information and to register for the event, go to WakeUpNaturally.com and click on “BOOK Parties!”or call 914.617.8750.
