Bleue City

New Rochelle Council on the Arts in collaboration with the New Rochelle Sister City Committee is pleased to introduce two young artists from La Rochelle, France

The artists, photographer / film director, Carole SIONNET, and illustrator /comics author, PieR GAJEWSKI, were looking for a link between their favorite mediums. In 2008 they began to create a side-by-side dialogue using their photographs and drawings. This complementary and imaginative approach became the visual and poetic focal point of BLEUE CITY. This evolving borderless city is shown on images built as diptychs as well as on a map. The city presently includes 15 quarters or zones: AMSTERDAM, ANGOULEME, BARCELONA, BERLIN, HAMBURG, JAPON, LAPLACE, LA ROCHELLE, LISBOA, SEOUL, GREEN, VENEZIA, ISTANBUL, NEW YORK and NEW ROCHELLE. The “city” evolves with the authors’ journeys.
