Black Violin

Wilner “Wil B” Baptiste (viola) and Kevin “Kev Marcus” Sylvester (violin) are Black Violin, and they are on a perception-changing, stereotype-shattering mission. Classically trained musicians, they met as high school orchestra nerds; today they play genre-bending music, radically fusing hip-hop and pop with classical to create a kaleidoscope of sounds uniquely their own.

They have opened for such diverse names in music as Kanye West, 50 Cent, Aerosmith, and Tom Petty, and creatively collaborated with the likes of Wu-Tang Clan, Linkin Park, Wyclef Jean and Alicia Keys. Their major label debut, Stereotypes, was released last year to critical acclaim. Their mission – to encourage and empower people of all ages, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds to find what connects us, rather than shine a light on what divides us.

This fall they bring us their most energetic and inspired show yet, the 2016 UNITY Tour. Come for a date night, or bring the kids along – Black Violin promises to blow the roof off the Concert Hall and impress even the most jaded teen!
