Beyond Wonder Woman: Make your Own Action Hero

“I figure if a girl wants to be a legend, she should go ahead and be one” – Calamity Jane

In the latest installment of the highly acclaimed “Star Wars” franchise, the central character and heroine is none other than a female Jedi named Rey. However, scanning the shelves of toy stores, there are no Rey action figures to be found – she’s even been left out of the Monopoly set, prompting the hash tag #WheresRey. The lack of female action heroes is nothing new, and an oversight the world of comics and films are starting to address.

In this workshop, participants are inspired to answer the question: If you were a super hero, what would be your super power? They’ll create an action hero figurine and tell his/her story. Or they can design their own action hero accessories to wear home.
