Awe + Artistic Voice. What’s the big deal? With Karen Hutton

CCCW presents another ZOOM program to heighten your fun with photography.

Guests are always welcome.

We hear the words “Awe” and “Find your artistic voice” tossed around like confetti.
What’s the big deal? Why do they matter? What do they even mean? Is it just about making better photos? Or is there something else at play here?
Good questions, one and all. I’m glad you asked them! Join me as we crack open the lid of this Treasure Chest of Radiant Notions. We’ll shed a little light on the matter, illuminate some ideas through imagery that just might spark your imagination in a whole new way. Remember: our photographic materials are Light and Time. How magical is that?! Perhaps it’s time to embark on the adventure of a lifetime to see where they can take us… next.
Karen Hutton
Photographer, Artist, Purveyor of Awesomeness
Professional Fujifilm X-Photographer Karen Hutton is probably best known as an International Landscape and Travel Photographer, Artist, Speaker, Author and Educator. Through stunning imagery, humor, thought-provoking ideas and a genuinely positive outlook, she inspires people to discover their artistic voice in photography — while making it all feel like an unforgettable and eye-opening adventure.
Photography has been in her family since the Norwegian side of her family immigrated to the United States and began “photographing everything in sight, especially, and most hilariously, each other”. It seemed only natural to grow up with a camera in her hands.
Now her unique vision extends to a new form of digital art, which she refers to “Whimsical Reveries”.
“I love to create these ‘pastiches’, reflecting the way my mind thinks. A bit of whimsy and humor, strange characters and connections, simple brushstrokes of feeling. They have a life of their own; telling stories about our precious hearts and souls as they seek to thrive in this wild world. Each piece is a reminder that reality can shift in an instant and that nothing is as it seems on the surface.”
Karen’s fine art prints have appeared in shows and installations in the U.S. and Japan. She leads photography retreats in the U.S. and Europe, which focus upon Storytelling, Seeing Photographically, Finding Your Artistic Voice and the Power of Awe. Her popular online courses can be found on Kelbyone and her magazine articles have been translated into multiple languages. Karen and her unique approach to photography & life is featured in a short form documentary film, created by Smugmug.
Her adoring fans + customers have called her “Pure JOY, LIGHT & absolute FUN!”, “An inspirational gem” and “Incredibly artistic. Captivatingly genius. World class!”
