Through stunning imagery, humor, thought-provoking ideas and a genuinely positive outlook, she inspires people to discover their artistic voice in photography — while making it all feel like an unforgettable and eye-opening adventure. Photography has been in her family since the Norwegian side of her family immigrated to the United States and began “photographing everything in sight, especially, and most hilariously, each other”. It seemed only natural to grow up with a camera in her hands. Now her unique vision extends to a new form of digital art, which she refers to “Whimsical Reveries”. “I love to create these ‘pastiches’, reflecting the way my mind thinks. A bit of whimsy and humor, strange characters and connections, simple brushstrokes of feeling. They have a life of their own; telling stories about our precious hearts and souls as they seek to thrive in this wild world. Each piece is a reminder that reality can shift in an instant and that nothing is as it seems on the surface.” Karen’s fine art prints have appeared in shows and installations in the U.S. and Japan. She leads photography retreats in the U.S. and Europe, which focus upon Storytelling, Seeing Photographically, Finding Your Artistic Voice and the Power of Awe.
