Bernhard Haaks Quartet with Special Guest Vic Juris

On Friday, November 20^th the Bernhard Haaks Quartet return to Roscoe’s Room with a special guest, jazz guitarist Vic Juris, who has been called “ one of the greatest improvisers of our time.” The group –which includes “Dutch Jazz Diva” Saskia Laroo on trumpet, Warren Byrd on piano, Don Miller on bass and Barnhard Haaks on drums — will present standards, originals and some new arrangements of a work song , plus“ Renaissance “ by Jean Luc Ponty. Two sets, 7 pm and 9:30 pm; cover charge is $25.

From the wilds of Manhattan to the shores of Japan and Germany, jazz guitarist Vic Juris has covered an impressive range of territory, musically as well as geographically. Praised for his highly developed sense of composition and his skill at fusing traditional jazz guitar with other forms of expression, Vic has played with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie, Phil Woods, Jimmy Smith, Sarah Vaughan, Chico Hamilton, Dave Liebman, Richie Cole, Mel Torme, Eddie Jefferson and Nancy Wilson.
