Antoinette Montague
Raised in the great city of Newark, NJ, Antoinette Montague is a singing Entertainer’s Entertainer and activist for the human rights of the arts who is dedicated to putting music and arts education back in the lives of our disenfranchised children! Antoinette instructs about Jazz, blues, singing and the history of this music (in an edutainment fashion) at schools, adult homes, community centers and festivals, including Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Syncopated Leadership Seminar for MGA students from China and Japan, The Urban League’s 465 young future leaders, and more.
Ms. Montague recently returned from a U.S. State Department singing and teaching tour in the Ural Mountains of Russia. She has performed in South Korea, Israel, Paris and more. Antoinette is a well branded Jazz and Blues artist who has performed actively since 1996, emerging as a vocal band leader since 2000 in NYC, creating a much beloved Jazz Super Shero enjoyed by people of all ages around the world, performing at Jazzmobile, Kitano, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Lincoln Center, the 2016 Charlie Parker Festival, and all the top NYC Jazz clubs (Blue Note, Dizzys, Jazz Standard, etc).
She truly is an entertainer’s entertainer, known for giving 100% to her audiences with excellent, fiery performances. She has received many awards and prestigious board appointments, including the Cedar Grove Jazz and Blues Entertainer of the Year Award 2017, Member of the Board of Directors for The Duke Ellington Center for the Arts, and Advisory Board Chair for International Women in Jazz. She has supported and mentored the inter-generational Jazz community and encourages a spirit on oneness throughout the arts.
Antoinette Montague has recorded several CDs that have received tons of national airplay as well as on WBGO. Her most recent CD, World Peace in the Key of Jazz, is dear to her heart for its Civil Rights homage for our young to learn about, and the rest of us not to forget.
Antoinette created her not-for-profit 501(c)(3) Jazz Woman to the Rescue Foundation that donates used instruments (sitting in folks’ closets) to disenfranchised children. Ms. Montague also created the Jazz, Film, Art and Media Consortium to encourage collaborative thinking and partnerships between leaders of powerful 501(c)(3) organizations to help lift Jazz and the arts.
