A Singing Salute to New York City“ An a cappella tour de farce”

A Singing Salute to New York City

“An a cappella tour de farce”

The Westchester Chordsmen chorus is proud to present its pre-summer concert, “A Singing Salute to New York City”!

The concert features several well-known songs about the landmarks and boroughs of NYC, but also includes a number of new, original compositions by our resident composer/arranger, Steve Delehanty.

Show Chairman, Thom Rosati says, “We’re excited to perform many songs that acknowledge and salute New York City. Steve’s addition of new songs makes this even more special.”

Steve says, “This concert gives me the opportunity to write songs that describe and show my appreciation for our great City. The chorus is excited to perform these songs as part of the overall Singing Salute.”

This pre-summer performance will demonstrate special staging, fast-paced commentary and well-known comic relief [some are calling it a “tour de farce.”!] by our chorus and its quartets, promising to be entertaining for audience guests of all ages.

(All attending the show will receive free copies of current annual issue.)

In addition, twice a year (in January and July), the Chorus conducts, “READY-SET-SING,” a six-week FREE course in singing and performance techniques. Men of any ages are encouraged to register in advance at chordsmen.org/ready-set-sing/

Stephen Banker, chorus President says, “We’re excited about this show for many reasons: the salute to NYC, the new songs from Steve D. and being at Stepinac High School. We look forward to seeing you there on June 29th at 7PM.”

About The Westchester Chordsmen Chorus

The Westchester Chordsmen Chorus is a 501(C)3 not-for-profit performing arts group. Its mission is to spread the joy and fun of singing around to the community, the country and the world. The Chordsmen’s musical repertoire extends beyond its barbershop-style roots to Broadway show-tunes, doo-wop, traditional, gospel and contemporary songs arranged in four-part a cappella harmony for tenor, lead, baritone and bass singers.

We are the only Westchester Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) and currently ranks as the 38th best chorus, out of a total of 800 BHS chapters worldwide.

The Chordsmen’s members come from Westchester and surrounding counties in New York, Connecticut, New York City, and Long Island. Rehearsals occur every Monday night at the Kol Ami Synagogue on Soundview Road in White Plains and are open to all men who want to sing or sing better.
