A Man of Dance

Beginning with his debut at the Metropolitan Opera, Vincent Warren established a reputation as a formidable dancer who always put his partner first—ballerinas absolutely adored him. In A Man of Dance we find Warren reminiscing about his unlikely initiation into the ballet—as the youngest of 14 kids in a Florida family where all the boys played football—and triumphant rise in 1960s and ’70s Montreal to principal dancer with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. Along the way, he performed for Stravinsky, had a long love affair with renowned New York poet Frank O’Hara (who dedicated much of his writing to Warren), and became one of the foremost historians and curators of the ballet. The film’s show-and-tell of rare footage and memorabilia from Warren’s personal archive helps bring this earlier world to life for all to enjoy.
