“Dancing in a time of solitude…”

5:30 p.m.  Saturday, September 19th at Historic Untermyer Park

The Untermyer Performing Arts Council will present The Connecticut Ballet performing Ballet Under the Stars/Pandemic Version… Dancing in a time of solitude…” at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 19th at Untermyer Park, 945 North Broadway, Yonkers NY 10701.

This exceptional series has unique solos & duets, and one piece for five company women.

Several of the pieces were choreographed using Zoom, with both choreographer and dancer communicating entirely remotely.  Choreographers include Julia Bengtsson, Elena Comendador, Carlyn Hudson, Iddi Saaka, and Lauren Lovette.

The Company is at root, a classical ballet company, two virtuoso ballet solos from the ballets, ‘La Bayadere’ and ‘Don Quixote’ also will be presented for another amazing program at Untermyer Park.

The Untermyer Performing Arts Council is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to continuing the tradition of Minnie and Samuel Untermyer, bringing musical entertainment to our treasure of a park and the people of Yonkers.

Although our events are admission free, our audience is limited to fifty people and reservations are mandatory.  All audience members must wear masks at all times in the park and bring chairs.  Seating is only in designated seating areas. To reserve a spot, call 914-375-3435 after 11 am on Tuesday, September 15th.  Please leave your name, phone number and the number of reservations you need to a maximum of four on the answering machine. Reservations will be allocated in the order received.  Only those with a confirmed reservation will be admitted to the park; all attendees will be temperature scanned at check in.

The Untermyer Performing Arts Council (UPAC) was formed in 1976 to promote the appreciation of the performing arts in Yonkers and beyond. UPAC’s mission was to foster and sponsor performing arts events at the historic Untermyer Park and other venues in Yonkers. UPAC is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization that relies on public grants and private donations. In addition to its popular free summer performance series at Untermyer Park, a new program entitled “UPAC on the Road” was recently launched, with support from Arts Westchester to reach new communities and partner with a variety of neighborhoods, businesses and community organizations.

Now celebrating its 39th year, UPAC continues to grow and seek new ways to serve the residents of Yonkers and the surrounding region. The motto of the Untermyer Performing Arts Council can be summed up with three “E’s”…enlighten, educate and entertain.
