Through May 26: New Exhibition Showcases Art From Across Westchester
ArtsWestchester presents Open Call, an exhibition featuring 22 artists across Westchester County. The exhibition features various works that showcase artists’ keen observations of time and place. Included is ArtsWestchester’s 2024 Larry Salley Photography Award winner, Elizabeth Diaz. The exhibition is part of the organization’s The Arts Exchange series, which focuses on Westchester-based artists. An opening reception will take place on April 14 from 1-3pm, and will be followed by a poetry reading from 3-5pm.

Through June 30: Ancestral Arts Exhibition
Katonah Museum of Art presentsnew exhibitionThere Is A Body: Legacy of the Ancestral Arts in the 21st Century”. The exhibition uses the title of an essay by philosopher and art critic Alain Locke. Locke’s work proposed the idea that African civilizations should be regarded in the same way as classical antiquity. The artists featured in this exhibition looked to African art and used various mediums to create each of their unique works. Tues.-Sat. from 10-5pm & Sun. from 12-5pm.

April 12 Through May 5: Carole King Musical in White Plains
White Plains Performing Arts Center presents the Tony and Grammy award winning musical “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.” The show features her life before fame when she was a young song writer named Carole Klein and includes songs such as “You’ve Got a Friend”, “One Fine Day”, “So Far Away” and more. Various times.

April 12: Magic Fills the Emelin Theatre
The Emelin Theatre hosts acclaimed magician Chris Funk. Funk has appeared on shows such as Fox’s “Hell’s Kitchen”, CW’s “Penn & Teller: Fool Us and Masters of Illusion”, Syfy’s “Wizard Wars” and more. The show combines magic, comedy and live music to create an interactive show for guests to experience. From 8-10pm.

April 13 Through 21: Performance Art Based on “WAR” Exhibition
Studio Theater in Exile and HVMOCA present Writing the Walls. The program features new poems, plays, songs and more that are inspired by HVMOCA’s juried show “WAR“. Writing the Walls has been a tradition which features poets and playwright’s works in reaction to artwork since 2005. April 13 & 20 at 7pm & April 14 & 21 at 3pm. April 14: Drum Workshop & Jam Session in Yonkers
Westchester Center for Jazz & Contemporary Music will be hosting a jazz drums workshop. Participants can be of any skill level as well as adults and students from grade 7 and up. The workshop will be ran by jazz drummer Joel Rosenblatt, who is best known for being the drummer of Spyro Gyra. Workshop from 6-7:30pm followed up by a jam session from 7:30-9pm.

April 15: ArtsMobile Celebrates World Art Day with a Workshop
The ArtsMobile by ArtsWestchester will be celebrating World Art Day with a family-friendly watercolor activity at Mount Kisco Public Library. Participants will have the opportunity to use Spring themes and poetry as inspiration for the water color piece they create. From 3-5pm.
