Through May 5: Exhibition Explores the Use of Earth-Based Elements
KinoSaito Art Center, in partnership with River Valley Arts Collective, presents Navel-Knot//Root-Rise, a new exhibition by Bel Falleiros. The exhibition displays the artists’ engagement with earth-centered elements, including fired terracotta, plant and earth pigments, and sound. Gallery hours: Friday through Sunday 10-5pm.

March 29 & 30: Jazz Forum Arts Hosts Trombone-Led Sextet
Jazz Forum Arts hosts the Steve Davis Sextet this weekend. Davis’s career began in Art Blakeley’s Jazz Messengers and his newest album, Bluesthetic, earned four stars from Downbeat Magazine. This concert will feature jazz vocalist Abena Koomson-Davis. Various times.

March 30: Play Series in New Rochelle
New Rochelle Public Library hosts the Red Monkey Theater Group for a short play series, Voices and Echoes. The series of performances will feature one-act plays that delve into topics such as race, gender, class and freedom from the late 19th and early 20th century. From 2-3:30pm.

March 31 Through May 3: Old Images, New Settings
From March 31 through May 3, Harrison Public Library presents Uncanny, a new exhibition by Susan Kaufman. Kaufman uses familiar-seeming older images and places them in a slightly strange setting. The artist’s work began with an interest in pop-up books/cards and developed into a style of images that have a 3-D effect. There will be an opening reception for the exhibition on April 13 from 2-4pm. Gallery hours: Mon. 9:30-9pm, Tues.-Sat. 9:30-5:30pm & Sun. 1-5pm.

April 1: Color Camera Club of Westchester
Color Camera Club of Westchester hosts a presentation by architecture photographer Frank T. Smith, who explores unique locations, from remote to urban. The presentation will share the view from his lens as he talks through how he processes images. From 8-10pm.

April 4: Album Listening Party with Andromeda Turre
ArtsWestchester’s newest Gallery Nite Out event offers an exclusive first listen to From The Earth, a new jazz suite by jazz vocalist Andromeda Turre. The album, the recording of which will be played in its entirety during the event, explores environmental justice through the lens of four marginalized communities in North America. The listening party will also feature artwork, video, photo documentation and guided meditation. From 6-9pm in the ArtsWestchester gallery.

April 6: Children’s Book Reading & Coloring Activity
Pelham Art Center hosts a reading of the children’s book Good Morning Clouds, a collection of easy-to-read lyrical short poems centered around clouds. Author Linda Calabro and illustrator Sarada Marie will be there for the reading of the story, after which children and their families can partake in a coloring activity. From 1-3pm.

April 11 Through April 30: Photography Exhibition Opening Reception
Rye Arts Center hosts the 48th Annual Ground Glass Exhibit later this month. The show features a diverse group of 35 photographs by members of the local Ground Glass photography group, including landscapes, portraits, abstract works and more. An opening reception will take place on the April 11 from 7-8pm, at which guests ca view the works and meet some of the artists. Gallery hours: Mon.- Fri. 9-7pm & Sat. 9-3pm.

Neuberger Museum at 50
In May of 1967, financier Roy R. Neuberger was invited to the Pocantico Hills estate of his friend, then-Governor of New York Nelson Rockefeller. During the visit, Rockefeller told Neuberger that if he donated works from his outstanding modern American art collection to New York State, the state would build a museum on the campus of a newly planned college in Purchase, N.Y. to display it.
