SHIM is pleased to announce an open call to visual artists for SHIMchat, a special exhibition with bold ambitions.
SHIM is a new arts exhibition company that fills the gaps in the art world, providing exhibition opportunities to artists, curators, and other organizations and affiliations without the means to mount their projects on their own.
SHIMchat aims to be the world’s largest art exhibition ever organized: one part art exhibition, one part digital stunt. With this exhibition, SHIM will begin to chart the expanse of the unseen artworld.
Beginning May 26th, a continuous loop of images will be exhibited via digital projector, 24 hours per day, 5 seconds at a time, at SHIM’s home gallery in ArtHelix in Brooklyn, NY.
By submitting a digital image file and a US$1 application fee, any artist anywhere in the world may contribute an image to this exhibition. Artists may submit as many images to the exhibition as they would like.
On May 29th, when the exhibition ends, its database of content will be sent to other participating exhibition sites around the world, where it will continue to grow by accepting more images on a continuous basis.
