Saturday, September 14, 2024, 1 – 4 pm
In-person Workshop at
Rye Arts Center,
51 Milton Road, Rye, NY
In this workshop you will explore the artistry of urban graffiti and wordplay with all the single-use plastic that you’ll collect. This is perfect fodder for graffiti and letter inspired art. Using soft single-use plastic packaging like shopping bags, wrapping from paper towels and toilet paper, cleaned potato chip bags, bread bags, rinsed frozen food packaging, newspaper bags mailer bags and any other colorful soft and pliable fabric-like plastic you will make a creative piece of art. Take a look through your refrigerator and your kitchen cupboards, pay attention next time you’re at the supermarket, and collect these materials for our workshop.
Take a look at your art materials stash as well; do you have an old canvas or canvas board? Chipboard? Cardboard? Foam core? Bring any of those for the base of your collage, since the idea is to repurpose as many materials as possible.
