An Outdoor Art Exhibit Celebrating 50 Years of Earth Day
CALL FOR ENTRIES:
The Carriage Barn Arts Center and New Canaan Land Trust are sponsoring a significant outdoor art installation to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day (April 22, 2020). This program will advance the missions of both organizations which are “to foster a connection between the community and its natural resources” and “to enrich the community through exhibitions, education and cultural experiences.”
We welcome proposals from regional artists for temporary sculpture placements / installations at 5-8 locations throughout New Canaan from April-July, 2020. Selected artists will receive a $1,000 stipend to offset materials, transportation and installation expenses.
We encourage artists to contemplate the national milestone of Earth Day at 50 years, and express it through on-site installations that consider the scale and geography of New Canaan Land Trust’s sites. We encourage artists to explore each site, both online and in person, and include their top three installation sites on the entry form. Proposed works should celebrate and respond to the natural environment, be visually engaging and/or interactive for viewers.
