This juried exhibit is open to all artists. Kristallnacht, meaning the “Night of Broken Glass” occurred in Germany, Nov. 9 & 10, 1938. Kristallnacht owes its name to the shards of shattered glass that lined German streets in the wake of the Nazis’s who had torched synagogues, vandalized Jewish homes, schools and businesses destroyed during the violence. It also marked the turning point from Jewish oppression by the Nazis to the violence and destruction of the Jewish European population.
The remembrance of Kristallnacht is to make witness to hatred and to ensure it never happens again. We are seeing a similar time in our present day when hate and fear of others seems to be running rampant. We are seeing a similar tie when values of freedom, love and fraternity towards our equal is being surpassed by oppression of race, ethnicity, gender and religion. This call and exhibit will stand up against oppression and hatred of any kind whether it’s driven by race, religion, ethnicity, sexuality or gender bias. It is to remember Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass. This exhibit will be about remembrance and about standing up for what is good and morally right for everyone to live in a world of Love.
