Home Is Where The Art Is Exhibition

The Lazarus Gallery at United Hebrew of New Rochelle

November 2, 2014- March 6, 2015

United Hebrew, 391 Pelham Road, New Rochelle, NY

The Lazarus Gallery at United Hebrew of New Rochelle looks forward to presenting the Home is Where the Art Is Exhibition. This juried exhibition hopes to broaden our ideas of home and place by featuring a wide range of artists’ diverse interpretations of the theme. Artists are invited to explore and to visually express their concept of home, from a physical space to an abstract emotion.

Home can be interpreted in many ways such as a building, a room, a space, a tent, or even a boat. A home can make one feel comfortable and happy, providing a place of belonging and feeling loved.  It might be a sanctuary of safety, a group of objects which evoke memories that create a personal space, a community or country of people that share a familiarity, or anywhere your loved ones are. For some, home may resonate as a homeland one can never return to, or a new country that becomes home. And homes are not exclusive to people, so consider animals as well. Submissions can be whimsical and include images of what animals may consider their “home sweet home.”

The concept of “home” triggers a deeply personal response. The collection of work featured in our exhibition will present a thought provoking, uplifting and joyful experience for all.
