The Hastings-on-Hudson Village Arts Commission in collaboration with Hastings Historical Society is pleased to present an original exhibit celebrating the public’s fascination with the moon and Hastings-on-Hudson’s unique place in lunar history. The Arts Commission is calling artists to explore the magic, the mystery and the meaning of moon throughout our lives. Men and women from the beginning of time have gazed at and been fascinated by the moon, the brightest object in the night sky. Hastings-On-Hudson occupies a unique place in lunar history, as Henry Draper, an American doctor and pioneer of astrophotography, took the earliest photographs of the moon with a telescope at his observatory in Hastings. From mythology to madness, from mathematics to man’s race in space, we ask you to answer the question, “What does the moon conjure for you?”
