White Plains Event Mixes Art with Cocktails

ArtsWestchester is bringing back its Gallery Nite Out happy hour series this month for the first time since before the pandemic.

The party will return to the organization’s building at 31 Mamaroneck Avenue on March 23 with music and poetry performances in the penthouse suite.

The event diversifies after-work options along Mamaroneck Avenue. Guests who are 21+ will have the opportunity to try a bourbon tasting by Penelope Bourbon while taking in the night’s entertainment, which includes singers/songwriters Journi and Cristina F., and the poets JAK and Nya Vincent.

“We are trying to bring a different kind of happy hour to Westchester by mixing happy hour with art,” says Jazmyn Thorpe, the organization’s special events coordinator.

Cristina F. has performed throughout the region, including Pianos NYC, The Bitter End, Yonkers Riverfest, Rockwood Music Hall, and the Irvington Town Hall Theater. In 2020, Broadway star Christine Dwyer performed Cristina’s original Christmas song “I Won’t Be Alone on Christmas Day” as part of a virtual Holiday cabaret.

Journi is the lead singer on Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary song, “The Magic is Calling.”

Nya Vincent, better known as Purpose’s Pen, focuses on creating timeless art through words.

JAK’s works, “Chronicles of a Convicted Felon” and “Life’s Menstrual Cycles,” have been published in Mercy College’s Red Hyacinth Journal.

Light bites, wine, beer and soft drinks will also be available.

Space is limited. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. The event is free for ArtsWestchester members.

More Gallery Nite Out events yet to be announced will be offered throughout the year.
