Wednesday Morning Concert Series at Caramoor
The Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts presents a mid-week mood-lift with its Wednesday Morning Concert series this month. Each of these diverse morning events includes a 45-minute performance. Pianist Andrew Armstrong opens the month on May 9, bringing his expressiveness and technique to the stage. The Argus Quartet celebrates a diverse repertoire that pays tribute to the traditions of chamber music while exploring the work of its living composers. The group’s May 16 program includes Charles Worinen, Juri Seo and Mendelssohn. Violinist Tessa Lark, performing on May 23, brings technical dexterity to her multi-genre programs. The chamber musician’s influences dip into bluegrass and jazz. Each of these three concerts will take place in the intimate Music Room in the Center’s Rosen House. This room features Renaissance furniture, Gothic tapestries and stained glass elements. A performance on May 30 closes out the month with the colorful dance and music of Spain, including a presentation of flamenco dancing in the Spanish Courtyard. Each Wednesday Morning Concert performance is followed by a tour of the Rosen House, a Mediterranean-style landmark that contains rare art objects, from sculptures of the 16th through 20th centuries to an Asian art collection.
