SAT, AUG, 26: Isadora Duncan Dance Company

This Saturday, Untermyer Performing Arts Council’s “Dancing in the Park” series will bring the Isadora Duncan Dance Company to Untermyer Park. Artistic Director Lori Belilove and company members dressed in Greek, Roman and Renaissance-themed tunics will offer a dancing workshop for local children in the lower gardens (3pm). An outdoor evening performance will take place at 7:30pm. Some workshop participants may be given the opportunity to perform on stage in the company’s opening number.

SUN, AUG. 27: Adult Jam Sessions at Lagond Music School 

This Sunday, Lagond Music School will host an adult jam session, an event during which musicians can congregate and appreciate one another’s musical talents. Practicing and professional musicians of every skill level are welcome to bring their instruments and participate in these ongoing interactive sessions. These events take place on Sunday nights at The Haven at Lagond!, a rehearsal and performance space in Elmsford. Begins at 7pm.

TUES, AUG. 29 THROUGH FRI, SEPT. 29: Faces of Cuba: A Photography Exhibition

Harrison Council for the Arts presents an opening reception for its Faces of Cuba exhibition this Tuesday. The photographic portraits by Susan Lawi, which will be on view through September 29, reflect her fascination with the people of Cuba. She has returned to the country five times in order to capture the essence of the people who are pictured in the exhibited photographs. Times vary at the Harrison Public Library.

TUES, AUG. 29: A Tribute Concert to Chris Cornell

On Wednesday, The Capitol Theatre will present a tribute to musician Chris Cornell, who passed away in May. The “Euphoria Mourning” concert will remember the Soundgarden and Audioslave front-man with performances by local rock bands Striven, The Noisy Tenants, Dylan Kay Band and Jim Koeppel. Doors open at 6:30pm. The concert begins at 8pm at Garcia’s at The Capitol Theatre.


WED, AUG. 30: “Summer Sounds” Concert Series Finale

On Wednesday, the Emil Paolucci Summer Sounds Concert Series will come to a close with a finale concert by international singing sensation Alfio. The concert, presented by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts, features this Australian singer-songwriter’s powerful vocals and comedic banter in an outdoor setting. Audiences will enjoy music and the cool breezes alongside the Long Island Sound. Begins at 7pm at Hudson Park Bandshell.
