NOW THROUGH SUN, SEPT. 17: Live Jazz in White Plains

This weekend, Jazz Fest White Plains continues with diverse jazz concerts at different venues throughout downtown White Plains. There will be live performances by Colombian pianist Pablo Mayor, Cuban American saxophonist Paquito D’Rivera and more. The festival will culminate with a free outdoor jazz and food festival on Mamaroneck Avenue this Sunday. Jazz Fest White Plains is presented by ArtsWestchester, White Plains BID and the City of White Plains. Times vary.

FRI, SEPT. 15 & SAT, SEPT. 16: Plein-Air Painting Along the Sound Shore

This weekend, dozens of painters will gather along the Sound Shore for Rye Arts Center’s “Painters on Location” event. On Friday and Saturday, artists will paint scenes inspired by the landscape and seascape during the plein-air (open air) “paint-out.” Visitors are encouraged to observe the painters at work. A Saturday reception will follow (5pm), as well as a live auction for the newly-painted works (6:30pm). Begins at 7am on Friday.

FRI, SEPT. 15 THROUGH SUN, SEPT. 17: Fall Crafts at Lyndhurst

Artrider Productions presents its Fall Crafts at Lyndhurst event this weekend, with a showcase of more than 275 modern American artists, designers and craftspeople from across the country. This art and shopping experience will include interactive children’s activities, tours of Lyndhurst Mansion and hands-on demonstrations such as silk Shibumi scarf making to wheel-thrown pottery. Begins at 10am at Lyndhurst Mansion.

 SAT, SEPT. 16: Trisha Brown Dance Company at Untermyer Park

RiverArts presents a live performance of “Trisha Brown: In Plain Site” at the Untermyer Park this Saturday. The Trisha Brown Dance Company will perform pieces from Brown’s repertory, which will be restaged in relationship to the setting of Untermeyer Parks and Gardens. The dances will be performed at various locations, and the audience will move through the garden to follow the dancers. Begins at 3pm and 5:30pm.

SUN, SEPT. 17: A Tribute Concert to Broadway Composer Leonard Bernstein

This Sunday, in celebration of the 60th anniversary of West Side Story, New Rochelle Opera will pay tribute to the music of composer Leonard Bernstein. The “Bernstein & Friends” concert will feature selections from West Side Story and Candide, along with works from Bernstein’s contemporaries, including selections from musicals by George Gershwin and Jerome Kern. Begins at 3pm at the Christopher Murphy Auditorium at Iona College.
