NOW THROUGH SUN, DEC. 24: A Gift of Art: Annual Holiday Show
Mamaroneck Artists Guild invites holiday shoppers to its annual Holiday Show and Boutique, which showcases unique and handmade art pieces. Affordable gifts in a variety of media, including painting, photography, sculpture and ceramics will be on sale. The holiday show will be open until December 24. Gallery hours: Tues-Sat: 12-5pm.
NOW THROUGH MON, FEB. 25: The Playful Universe of Ignacio Iturria
Neuberger Museum of Art presents A Studio in the Gallery: The Playful Universe of Ignacio Iturria, a retrospective that illuminates key moments in the Uruguayan artist’s career trajectory by showcasing forty of his found object paintings. The exhibition also features a living studio in which the artist will work in collaboration with Purchase College students. Museum hours: Wed-Sun: 12-5pm.
FRI, DEC. 22 AND SAT, DEC. 23: Houston Person’s Soulful Jazz
This Friday and Saturday, jazz tenor saxophonist and record producer Houston Person will bring four performances to Tarrytown’s Jazz Forum Club. Person has performed in the hard bop and swing genres, but is best known for his soulful jazz. He is also known for his distinctively sassy sound and his expressive style of playing. Performances will be held at 7 and 9pm.
FRI, DEC. 22 THROUGH SUN, JAN. 14: The Hunchback of Notre Dame
White Plains Performing Arts Center brings The Hunchback of Notre Dame to its stage this Friday. The musical retelling of Victor Hugo’s classic novel takes place in 15th-century Paris with the Academy Award-nominated score of the beloved Disney film. The story follows Quasimodo, a deformed bell-ringer who must assert his independence from his vicious caretaker in order to save his gypsy friend, Esmeralda. Performances will be held through January 14. Times vary.
TUES, DEC. 26 AND WED, DEC. 27: Family Fun Performance at Emelin Theatre
Mamaroneck’s Emelin Theatre invites families to a series of theatrical performances by The Paper Bag Players, which will present its brand new show, That’s Quite Absurd. The fun-filled show, designed for children aged 4 and up, is packed with stories, songs, dancing and painting. Audience participation makes the performance a family affair. Begins at 11am and 1:30pm.
