NOW THROUGH AUG. 26: Artist Member Exhibition at the Blue Door Art Center
Blue Door Art Center’s annual Hot & Cool Summer at the Blue Door exhibition features the diverse works of the Center’s artist members through August 26. The exhibition will display works in many mediums, from paintings to photography, by local artists. Gallery hours: Thurs: 3-6pm, Fri: 3-6pm & Sat: 1-5pm.
FRI, AUG. 18: Live Music at Lasdon Park
Music in the Park returns with another evening filled with fun and live music at Ladson Park this Friday. The performance will feature Westchester Philharmonic’s brass quintet led by trumpeter Wayne DuMaine. The oldest, continuously running professional symphony orchestra in Westchester will bring their renditions of classical favorites, jazz standards, popular hits and more. FRI, AUG. 18: Open Mic Nights at the Hudson Valley Writers’ Center
This Friday, The Hudson Valley Writers’ Center welcomes all audiences to its Open Mic Night, which is held on the 3rd Friday of each month. This event, hosted by Bill Buschel, will give audience members an opportunity to share their words, music or comedy in a comfortable setting shared with like-minded people. Begins at 7:30pm.
SAT, AUG. 19: Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost
On Saturday, Hudson River Museum invites families to a free performance of Shakespeare’s acclaimed comedy, Love’s Labour’s Lost. The production, presented by the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, follows the King of Navarre and his lords who have sworn off the pleasures of life to pursue their studies. SAT, AUG. 19: Family Crafts at the New Rochelle BID Outdoor Market
This summer, the New Rochelle BID’s Family Market Day brings entertainment, crafts and lawns games to the Ruby Dee Park. On Saturday, materials and guidance will be provided so that children can make a quick market-inspired project to take home. The Market is open every Saturday through October 28, from 9am-2pm, with local farm-fresh products, musical performances and more. Begins at 11am.
