On November 5, The Sanctuary Series will present “American Journey,” an evening with German pianist Ulrich Roman Murtfeld, whose distinctiveness does not only speak to the way in which he plays, but also the way he approaches the repertoire for his performances. His programs often feature interpretations of an unusual range of selected composers, from classical-romantic greats such as Mozart and Schumann to more contemporary works. His most recent release “American Recital“ includes arrangements from American composers George Gershwin, Philip Glass and more. This November 5 program will include works from Beethoven, Schubert, MacDowell, Rzewski and Gottschalk. It will take place at the South Salem Presbyterian Church and will be presented in collaboration with The German Forum, for which he will be performing earlier in the week at Lincoln Center’s Bruno Walter Auditorium.
