New Round of 2023 Arts Alive Grants Now Open For Applications

“The arts are for everyone,” says ArtsWestchester CEO Janet Langsam. “They give voice and a means of creative expression to all, and are fundamental to our wellbeing.” It is in this spirit that ArtsWestchester strives to provide arts accessibility throughout Westchester and Rockland. One of the primary ways the organization does this is with its grants program, through which it funds artists and arts programs in every corner of the County each year.

The arts council recently announced that its 2023 Arts Alive program is now open for a second round of applications from artists and arts groups working in Westchester and Rockland County. In other words, it is encouraging professional artists and community-based arts groups to put forth proposals for new artistic work, community projects and arts education programs to be considered for funding in 2023.  The deadline for applications is March 22.

Langsam continues, “We are pleased to offer this funding opportunity at this critical time to support area artists and to help ensure that we maintain an equitable and vibrant cultural community in the region as we emerge from the pandemic.”

Arts Alive applications are being accepted in the following categories:

COMMUNITY PROJECT GRANTS constitute the largest component of the Arts Alive funding category. These grants support community-based arts and cultural projects developed by cultural groups and organizations, individual artists and collectives. Supported projects must be fully open to the public. Project Grant Award Amounts: $1,000 to $5,000

INDIVIDUAL ARTIST GRANTS support the creation and presentation of new work by professional artists. An essential element of this funding is the inclusion of community engagement component. Artist Grant Award: $1,000 – $2,500

ARTS IN EDUCATION GRANTS support lifelong learning in the arts. Funded activities may take place in classrooms, after-school programs or community sites, including agencies serving people with disabilities, day-care and senior centers. Arts-In-Education Grant Award: $1,000 to $5,000

The Arts Alive grant program is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
