Irvington Shakespeare Company Founder Named a 2023 Wunderkind
Each year, Westchester Magazine’s 914 Inc. puts a spotlight on some of Westchester’s savviest businesspeople under the age of 35 – otherwise known as the Wunderkinds. These young professionals excel in their individual fields, making a name for themselves in Westchester and beyond. Among this year’s winners is Kamran Saliani, founder of Irvington Shakespeare Company.
The Iranian-American actor went to school in Irvington and subsequently brought his talents back to his hometown, dedicating himself to bringing more professional theater to the area.
Says Saliani to 914 Inc: “I believe Shakespeare’s works reflect many of the themes and challenges present in our world today, offering catharsis and hope. I seek to perform Shakespeare’s plays in ways that everyone in Westchester can understand in order to better process this critical moment in time.”
According to the nonprofit’s mission statement, the company aims to open a discourse about life’s complexities and Shakespeare’s stories of death and love, hope and despair: “If we can process this moment in time, as a community without judgment, then art has fulfilled a fundamental purpose: to uplift while we entertain. We aim to provide that form of art.”

In July, ISC will present Pericles, Prince of Tyre, a play that combines adventure and chaos with love and hope. Dates to be announced.
